In the fourth quarter of 2024, social networking apps in Italy showed varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the top five apps based on Sensor Tower’s data.

Threads experienced fluctuating weekly downloads, starting at approximately 121K in early October and ending the quarter with around 89K. Active users showed a consistent upward trend, moving from about 2.7M to over 3.3M by the end of December.

Google Meet saw its weekly downloads peak at around 56K mid-November before declining to 16K by the end of the quarter. Active users varied, reaching a high of 1.5M in early December before dropping to 1.1M towards the end of the year.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a stable download rate, with a notable spike to 113K in late December. Active users remained steady throughout the quarter, consistently around 41.5M.

Telegram Messenger showed an increase in weekly revenue, ending December at approximately $62K. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at 83K in early November. Active users saw slight variations, finishing the quarter with approximately 15.3M.

Facebook recorded a steady revenue, maintaining around $25K weekly. Downloads peaked at 87K just before Christmas, while active users hovered around 23M, with minor fluctuations.
